Word Analysis - Matt 4:4

There are so many ways and methods prescribed through which the Christian can approach an in-depth study of the bible. But my proposed idea is to go for the scriptures word after word because every word has a message.

Heb 4:12 for instance tells us that the word of God is quick and powerful, not the words of God.

The scripture is through this verse hinting us that word by word, there is a treasure in every scripture.

So don't pack all the words together and start scanning large scripture passages for messages. scripture advises us that when we study to show ourselves approved unto God we must rather be a workman that needs no shame who can rightly divide (the sentences into) words and ask the Holyspirit for the relevance of every word - This is how we can reach the deep truths in our bible. ( 2Tim 2:15)

We have been considering matt 4:4 for a few days now so let's round up that verse study going with the word-analysis approach as biblically recommended.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. matt 4:4

word by word

"But:" a statement of contrary condition. your response sometimes may need to contradict your situation- Jesus! please follow this... sometimes you will be feeling a fever but our faith will require you to confess perfect health, so we say "though we are weak, but because of Christ we are made strong, though our outward man perish but our inward man is renewed day by day, though there is recession but we have abundance in God, though we walking through the valley of death, we shall not die, but (contrary to what the enemy expects) we shall live!

You see, many believers have studied so much on the negative uses of  the word "but" in the scriptures and some have come to conclude that "But" is a language of the devil used to describe inadequacies, like Naman was mighty but a leper, a man was greater than his brethren but his name was Jabez... etc..

No, Jesus too said "but" describing that his response will be contrary to what His enemy and tempter wanted Him to say.

When the enemy tries you, find a reply that will disappoint their expectations, don't accept defeat, a "but God said" statement can help you to victory.

I don't know the area you have been struggling before this day, "but" the lord is bringing you out, your enemies are expecting you to cry, but you will laugh... these and more are the good great assurances that God wanted to pass across when He allowed that the word "but" should appear in this verse... it is not just a conjunction or negation, it is a prophecy and an assurance... we move to other words in our next few studies...
